Before and After

        Before...                                     ...After

  • newburyport kitchen

Opening up the wall between the kitchen and dining room gave this Newburyport kitchen a refreshing open and airy feel.  Relocating the route to the basement and side door also allowed for a larger run of cabinets and peninsula with seating on this end of the kitchen.

Changing the back windows to a sliding glass door onto the deck not only allowed easier access to the deck and back yard, but also brought significantly more natural light into the kitchen and dining room.

Here you can see the new doorway to access the basement and side door.  Previously, this was directly into the kitchen (as seen in the first photograph) which really chopped up the work areas, cabinet storage, and working counters.  Sometimes something so simple can vastly improve the flow and function of your home!

  • rockport kitchen

This beautiful old cottage needed lots of love.  This project was a full house gut.  You will notice the ocean right out the back window where the homeowner and guests would enjoy the view, and perhaps a cocktail from the large back deck.  This inspired the built-in that can be set up as a bar or buffet when entertaining, and it is conveniently right next to the door out to the deck.

We eliminated the laundry room to open up the space and allow more light to pass through.  However, we could not eliminate the chimney so we incorporated it into our design layout.

The homeowner loved the character of this built-in, so, we just made another specific to her storage needs.  We capped the crown molding with a small shelf so  when descending the stairs the top would have a finished look.

    Need I say more?

In order to fit a standard vanity cabinet we had to cut back the baseboard heater.  The decorative split turned posts are not only a beautiful design element, but, the one on the right naturally moves the drawers far enough away from the wall so there is ample clearance to the heater.  The alternative would have been an unattractive 4 inch wide filler piece at the right end of the cabinets.

We replaced this closet with a tall linen cabinet that actually recesses 3 inches into the wall using all the available space to the max!  There is a pull out hamper unit behind the lower door which keeps this bathroom tidy at all times.

  • Beverly kitchen

We took this opportunity to replace the window over the sink with a much larger window which brought in the light from the back yard.  You will notice the window is at the same height as the counters, so we extended the granite right into the window sill for plants and herbs.

Replacing the old door and window to the breezeway in this Cape Cod style home with a large cased opening between the rooms created a much more open feel.

An island with 4 stools is a comfortable place to read your morning paper and enjoy your coffee, or for the kids with their snacks or homework, or to keep your guests comfortably out of your way while you prepare the meal!

  • rockport master suite:  office

This master suite was complete with large walk-in closets, window seats, built in bureau storage, a master bath and home office.  The office has built-in bookcases with doors, combining both open and closed storage.  The storage on the angled wall opposite the bookcases was carefully designed to store her printer and paper behind the doors with fixed shelves carefully installed along the slanted wall above.  This created more efficient storage in this once awkward space!

  • rockport master suite:  master bath

  • south shore master bath

Relocating the vanity in this bath allowed space for a large walk in shower with bench, as well as a larger vanity with double sinks and additional storage space.

We created this make-up area with a framed mirror to match the cabinetry.  The mirror inserts in both corner cabinet doors allowed for both additional storage, as well as a pivoting mirror feature.  The cabinets were wired for blow dryer, etc. to keep the counter clear of clutter.
